Emily McFarland, LCSW
Emily is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over four years of experience supporting children and families in outpatient and school-based settings. She earned her MSW from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she completed her clinical internship at a child advocacy center, providing trauma-informed care to children, adolescents, and their caregivers following disclosures of abuse.
Emily is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has extensive experience helping children and families heal from the effects of trauma. For the past four years, she worked in a public elementary school, providing school-based therapy to children ages 6-13. In this role, she supported students facing challenges such as anxiety, ADHD, grief, trauma, and school-related stressors, while also collaborating with school staff and attending IEP, 504, and MTSS meetings to advocate for her clients’ needs.
Emily’s approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that meaningful growth begins with a strong therapeutic relationship. She creates a warm, compassionate space for children and their families and integrates evidence-based practices, including CBT, ACT, and TF-CBT, to meet each client where they are.
